YOUTH PEACE & JUSTICE FOUNDATION CONFIRMS DIRECT FAMILY ASSISTANCE PROVIDED TO AMARILLO SHOOTING VICTIMS’ FAMILIES; ONGOING SUPPORT CONTINUES AHEAD OF FUNERAL SERVICES
"Today I had the honor of speaking with Ezekiel ‘Rudy’ Almazan’s mother at the funeral home, and with the grandmother of Deven Antonucci, who is traveling to be with family members. These are conversations you never forget. You see the depth of their pain, but also their love and their strength for one another in the middle of it"

_______
AMARILLO, TX — The Youth Peace & Justice Foundation today confirmed that it has directly connected with families impacted by the recent Amarillo shooting and has already provided immediate financial and logistical assistance to support them in the days leading up to upcoming funeral services.
The Foundation stated that aid has been delivered to assist with both immediate financial needs and in-state travel and coordination support for family members seeking to be present during funeral services.
DIRECT FAMILY SUPPORT ACTIVATED
According to the Foundation, emergency assistance has already been distributed to multiple affected families to address urgent needs, including:
* Immediate financial stabilization support
* Transportation assistance for family reunification within Texas
* Lodging and temporary support needs related to services
* Funeral-related and associated emergency expenses
The Foundation emphasized that assistance will remain ongoing throughout the funeral period and into the broader recovery process for affected families.
“All verified requests are being met quickly and directly,” said Daniel Chapin, Founder and President of the Youth Peace & Justice Foundation. “This is about standing with families in real time, not just in statement.”
The Foundation confirmed that representatives have spoken directly with families of victims, including those who lost sons and grandsons in the shooting, to ensure immediate needs are being identified and addressed without delay.
“Our priority has been presence, listening, and immediate action,” Chapin said. “These families are navigating unimaginable grief, and our responsibility is to make sure they are supported every step of the way.”
The Foundation reiterated that its National Emergency Relief Fund remains active and will continue providing support beyond the initial response period.
Ongoing assistance will include:
* Continued financial stabilization support
* Counseling and trauma recovery resources
* Extended family assistance as needed
* Coordination of community-based recovery services
“We are not treating this as a short-term response,” Chapin added. “Support does not end when the headlines fade. It continues as long as families need it.”
COMMUNITY THANK YOU
The Foundation extended gratitude to the Amarillo and broader Texas communities for their support and compassion following the tragedy.
“The strength of the community has been evident in every step of this response,” the Foundation said. “From neighbors and first responders to those quietly offering support in any way they can—this is what care in a crisis looks like.”
Following direct conversations with grieving family members, including parents and grandparents who lost sons and grandsons, Daniel Chapin shared the following reflection:
"Today I had the honor of speaking with Ezekiel ‘Rudy’ Almazan’s mother at the funeral home, and with the grandmother of Deven Antonucci, who is traveling to be with family members. These are conversations you never forget. You see the depth of their pain, but also their love and their strength for one another in the middle of it.
There are moments in this work that stay with you forever, and this is one of them. You don’t walk away from it unchanged. What these families are facing is unimaginable, and the least we can do is make sure they are not facing it alone.
We will continue to stand with them—not just today or this week, but as long as it takes for them to begin to find some measure of support and stability again."
The Youth Peace & Justice Foundation confirmed it will maintain active coordination with affected families and community partners throughout the coming weeks as services and recovery efforts continue.
