National School & Community Crisis Response
Youth Peace & Justice Foundation
The Community Crisis Support Initiative is a central pillar of the Youth Peace & Justice Foundation, dedicated to delivering compassionate, immediate, and trauma-informed support for youth-related crises nationwide.
In recent years, the Foundation’s crisis response network has expanded to empower communities across the country—especially young people—to actively contribute to a culture of peace through meaningful community action.
This work includes responding not only to school safety concerns and broader community crises, but also to missing child cases nationwide, ensuring families and communities receive critical support during urgent and high-risk situations.
We operate on a fundamental principle:
Crisis Support and Violence Prevention are parallel and interdependent efforts.
Rapid, structured crisis intervention serves as critical secondary prevention—stabilizing individuals and communities in the immediate aftermath of trauma and reducing the long-term impacts that can contribute to cycles of violence.
Also known as The Uvalde Foundation for Kids, the Youth Peace & Justice Foundation continues to advance its mission through the formal expansion of its Community Crisis & Disaster Response Program.
This national initiative provides immediate aid, coordinated resources, and sustained support to youth, families, and communities impacted by violence, disasters, missing child cases, and unforeseen crises across the United States.
Program Component: Youth Impact Team (YIT)
A cornerstone of this initiative is the Youth Impact Team (YIT)—a dedicated network of trained volunteers that includes student leaders serving as peer crisis aides and frontline trauma responders.
Empowering Youth Leadership
The YIT recruits and trains high school and college-aged volunteers to provide immediate emotional support and leadership in the aftermath of crises, disasters, and critical incidents.
Peer-to-Peer Support
Recognizing that young people often turn to their peers first, YIT members provide on-site, no-cost assistance—offering emotional support, connecting individuals to licensed mental health professionals, and supporting efforts related to grief, bullying, and trauma recovery.
Active Crisis Response
YIT members work alongside adult volunteers, mental health professionals, and Foundation crisis teams at outreach centers and mobile response units nationwide—delivering both immediate care and long-term support for recovery and stabilization.

Resource Coordination & Support Services
The Foundation connects individuals and families with verified, up-to-date resources—including mental health services, financial assistance, and community-based recovery programs—to support long-term healing and stability.
Targeted Initiatives & Demonstrated Impact
The Foundation channels its mission through focused initiatives that reflect a commitment to meaningful, on-the-ground action:
Texas Flood & Disaster Response (Camp Mystic)
Following devastating flooding in the Texas Hill Country, the Foundation played a key role in mobilizing volunteers and resources for rescue, relief, and recovery efforts. Support efforts were particularly focused on youth and families impacted by loss, including those connected to Camp Mystic, reinforcing the Foundation’s commitment during catastrophic natural disasters.

“Emmanuel’s Hope” Initiative — No Child Lost: We Will Find You
This national initiative is dedicated to assisting in the search for missing and endangered youth. Named in honor of Baby Emmanuel Haro, the program works in coordination with law enforcement and community networks to amplify awareness, support search efforts, advocate for safe recovery, and, when appropriate, assist in facilitating reward-based information efforts.
Mass Tragedy Response
The Foundation has delivered trauma-informed support and crisis resources to institutions such as Morgan State University following incidents of campus violence—ensuring students, staff, and families have immediate access to stabilization services, debriefing, and counseling resources.
Statement from Founder Daniel Chapin
“The tragedies we respond to—whether a school shooting, natural disaster, missing child case, or community crisis—are never isolated events. They reflect a broader need for sustained compassion, vigilance, and action.
Our evolution into the Youth Peace & Justice Foundation represents a deeper understanding: the protection and well-being of our youth is a national responsibility.
The Community Crisis & Disaster Response Program is that responsibility in action. It is our promise not only to respond—but to remain, to support, and to help rebuild lives and restore a sense of safety in the wake of tragedy.
This work is not about forgetting. It is about resilience—about building a lasting legacy from loss. The light of those we have lost continues to guide our mission and strengthen our resolve.
We are building a foundation grounded in transparency, compassion, and action.”
