The Uvalde Foundation For Kids has launched a national fundraising initiative to provide financial support for the families of two children, ages 8 and 10, who tragically lost their lives in today's shooting in Minneapolis. The funds raised through the fundraiser will directly assist with burial, memorial, and general expenses for the two affected families.

The first was identified as 8-year-old Fletcher Merkel, whose father gave an emotional statement to reporters on Thursday afternoon. Harper Moyski, 10, also tragically died in the shooting.

Please note, general support for the overall community and survivors families is available through Minneapolis, whom created an Annunciation Response Fund, with the Minneapolis Foundation establishing a text-to-donate line.

Anyone wishing to donate through this fund can text “ACF1” to 41444.

The Minneapolis Foundation says it will work with Annunciation to distribute those funds in the coming days and weeks.

The Uvalde Foundation For Kids, a national nonprofit dedicated to ending violence and enriching the lives of students, has a history of responding to school and youth-related tragedies. Founded in the wake of the Robb Elementary School shooting, the organization has since worked to provide crisis response, advocacy, and resources for communities impacted by violence.

"The senseless loss of young lives, whether in a school or in the community, is a national tragedy that demands our collective action," said Daniel Chapin, Founder of the Uvalde Foundation For Kids.

"Our foundation was created to stand with families during their darkest hours. We are committed to providing whatever support we can to the families in Minneapolis as they navigate this unimaginable pain. This initiative is a way for all of us to show these families they are not alone and that we stand with them." (Uvalde Foundation)

Donations to support the families can be made directly through the Uvalde Foundation For Kids' official PayPal at: https://paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=G88KEWBWBVGA8

In the interest of complete accountability and collaboration, the details of this initiative have been forwarded to local law enforcement for their review and oversight as currently they have more direct communication with the two families of the precious children lost. Funds obtained will be directed between the two families.

The foundation's work since 2022, has included providing assistance to survivors, offering scholarships, providing financial assistance and advocating for enhanced school security measures.
