The Youth Peace & Justice Foundation (YPJF) today provided a comprehensive update on its relief efforts for the victims of the mass shooting at a Stockton banquet hall. The Foundation confirmed its fundraising initiative is gaining significant momentum, with hundreds of individuals from the foundation's home state of Texas having already pledged their support to date.

The foundation, which focuses on crisis response and restorative justice, has launched the Stockton Juvenile Victims Fund and is continuing to offer a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspected shooter or shooters, who remain at large following the tragedy that left four people dead and at least 10 wounded, including young children and adults. The community learned today that the youngest victim, an 8-year-old, has been identified as a Stockton Unified School District student.

New Statement from Foundation Founder

The outpouring of immediate support, particularly the hundreds of pledges from our Texas community, underscores a critical truth: we will not stand by while violence shatters innocent lives. The financial contributions—large and small—are vital, translating directly into trauma counseling, medical care, and long-term recovery for the young victims and their families,” said Daniel Chapin, Founder of the Youth Peace & Justice Foundation.

“This tragedy hits particularly close to home for me, as I spent years living in Stockton and San Francisco. I have a special heart for this area and its people, making our commitment to this community personal and unwavering.

The heartbreaking confirmation that the youngest victim, an 8-year-old student, has been identified only deepens our resolve. We recognize the community's desire to know who was lost, and we want to remind everyone that while this victim has been identified to authorities, the names of the juvenile victims have not been publicly released at this time out of respect for the grieving process and the privacy of their families, which must remain paramount.

Our focus is squarely on providing tangible aid and advocating for justice.”

🤝 Fund Coordination and Texas Community Mobilization

To specifically address the immediate and long-term financial needs of the young people targeted in the attack, YPJF has launched the Stockton Juvenile Victims Fund. The Foundation has reached out to the Stockton Unified School District regarding the inclusion of their student victim in this fundraising effort, ensuring comprehensive support.

Furthermore, the foundation has previously reached out to local law enforcement concerning the initiative's oversight and coordination.

The current funds pledged, once accumulated, will be held in a specially vetted account overseen by the foundation board, ensuring the utmost accountability and transparency and directly provided to victims families. The foundation noted it will continue the fundraiser through Christmas 2025.

The dedicated fund is designed to provide direct financial assistance, covering expenses such as medical treatment, specialized trauma counseling, funeral costs as applicable and long-term recovery costs for the young people targeted in the attack and their families.

The foundation emphasizes the importance of these donations, which will be directly overseen by its expanded board and distributed directly to family members upon confirmation of need. This substantial commitment from Texas donors reflects the foundation's history of community support, which includes rapid crisis response efforts across the country.

The YPJF has communicated the full details of this fundraiser and its oversight procedures to local law enforcement for further accountability and transparency.

🚨 Reward and Support Continues

The Youth Peace & Justice Foundation is also immediately offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads directly to the arrest and conviction of the suspect(s) responsible for the shooting. The foundation urges anyone with information to contact the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office.

In addition to the financial fund and the reward, the foundation is prepared to offer community support resources, including:

* Trauma Support: Access to peer and professional counselors for immediate and long-term mental health assistance.

* Online Support: Moderated online support portals for community members to connect and find mutual support.

* Resource Referral: Direct referral to local Stockton resources for specialized support and assistance pro bono or paid by the foundation.

“This is not a moment for short-term grief; it is a time for sustained action and compassion,” Mr. Chapin added. “The entire YPJF team, supported by communities like the one in Texas, is committed to standing with the people of Stockton for the long haul, ensuring that young people and families have the tools they need to truly begin to heal.”
