The Path Forward: Our 2025 Financial Transparency and Sustainability Goal
November 30, 2025
Hello YPJF Community,
What a year it has been! As we close the books on the fiscal year ending November 30, 2025, we are excited—and a little humbled—to share our final financial reports. This release of our formal 990-EZ data is central to our commitment to full transparency, a promise we made when we transitioned from The Uvalde Foundation for Kids to the Youth Peace & Justice Foundation (YPJF).
The name change was never a change in our heart; it was simply making sure our identity accurately matched the comprehensive, national scope of work we have been diligently executing since 2022.
Record Impact: $0.77 of Every Dollar to the Mission
When you donate, you want to know where your money goes. We’re thrilled to report that we achieved a Program Service Ratio (PSR) of 76.95%.
What does that mean? It means that $0.77 of every single dollar spent this year went directly into program services—crisis aid, advocacy, and resources—which is an outstanding metric for any nonprofit.
This high efficiency allowed us to deliver some serious impact this year:
Crisis Response: We managed over 10,000 support inquiries, providing everything from direct food aid and gift cards to essential supplies for high-need families across twelve counties.
Disaster Relief: During the regional flood crisis, we mobilized support, including $3,900 in direct financial assistance and the distribution of $16,000 in in-kind disaster relief supplies.
Legislative Victory: We successfully proposed "Conrad's Law" to state lawmakers, mandating enhanced childcare safety protocols to protect children across the state—a huge win for youth advocacy.
Our Financial Snapshot: Stable, Debt-Free, and Highly Liquid
We ended the year in a strong position:
Total Contributions: $49,963.23
Ending Cash Balance: $13,943.40
Liabilities: $0.00 (We are completely debt-free!)
We thank you for every donation; it's the only funding we receive, making your support 100% of our revenue.
The Honest Truth: Why We Need to Grow
While we are incredibly proud of our efficiency, we need to be candid about the financial reality of our growth. This year, the demand for our expanded national services meant our total expenses were slightly higher than our revenue, resulting in a minor operational deficit of ($1,056.60).
We covered this deficit entirely by drawing on our reserves (Net Assets). While we have the cash on hand to handle this, drawing on reserves is not a sustainable long-term model.
The volume of work we now handle—from crisis coordination to legislative advocacy—is too significant to rely on chance. We need to secure our future so we can meet the growing demand for safe communities and violence prevention.
Our Strategic Goal: Investing in Sustainability
To eliminate future reliance on reserves and build a truly self-sustaining foundation, management has set an ambitious goal for the upcoming fiscal year: We need to achieve a 45% increase in annual donations.
This growth is essential for two key reasons:
Eliminating the Deficit: It closes the gap between our current fundraising and our operational needs, ensuring we can consistently maintain our high level of service.
Professional Scaling: It allows us to strategically invest in the professional staff needed to coordinate our high-volume national programs and guarantee the continued efficacy and transparency you expect.
Our core commitment to peace and justice is stronger than ever. Thank you for your continued faith in our mission. We look forward to achieving this 45% sustainability goal with your help!
