Stockton Truce Concludes: YPJF Reports Targeted Gang Ceasefire Success; Announces 2026 Anchorpoint Hub Locations

STOCKTON, CA (January 2, 2026)

The Youth Peace and Justice Foundation (YPJF) officially announced Thursday the upcoming conclusion of the formal 21-day "Conditional Epiphany Gang Truce," out of Stockton, California today. The foundation acknowledged in a New Years day 2026 release, that isolated incidents of gunfire had occurred within city limits during this period; yet confirmed that the specific, high-risk cycle of retaliatory gang violence feared in the wake of the November 29th birthday party massacre was successfully withheld.

The foundation explicitly recognized that Stockton has not been without violence over the last three weeks; however, noted a critical distinction between general criminal activity and the coordinated, retaliatory gang affiliated strikes that were feared following the tragedy.

"We are not claiming to have solved every instance of crime in Stockton overnight," a Daniel Chapin, with the foundation stated. "What we are claiming—and what the data on the streets reflects—is that the targeted, back-and-forth violence feared after the Lucile Avenue shooting was successfully paused. Our 'street-first' relationships, coupled with our outside presence, allowed us to reach the individuals most likely to pull the trigger next, and for 21 days, they honored that pause."

As the foundation transitions from immediate crisis intervention to long-term community support, YPJF officials also announced that the foundation has secured several locations within Stockton for its Anchorpoint Hubs. These facilities, including volunteer run, residential "Safe Houses," are expected to open Spring 2026, and will serve as independent centers for trauma support, youth advocacy, and violence interruption.

By securing these physical locations, the foundation noted it hopes to further solidify its ongoing presence and commitment to the families of Stockton, ensuring that its presence remains a permanent fixture for peace.

In the coming weeks, foundation officials also noted that they will be reaching out again to Mayor Christina Fugazi, the Vice Mayor, and several key community leaders. The goal of these meetings, according to the foundation, is to discuss the foundation's specific role and presence in the city, with the hope of establishing future coordination that maximizes the reduction of citywide violence.

The foundation recognized however, that it has a challenge in this regard given the volatile current relationship between the foundation and city officials.

The foundation reiterated as well, that their outreach to city leadership is focused on political commitment and operational coordination, not financial support.

"The truce proved that those involved in the violence can be reached when the message is rooted in radical love and direct engagement," Chapin concluded. "As we prepare to open our hubs this Spring, we look forward to a professional dialogue with city leaders to ensure that no more families have to endure the tragedy we saw on November 29. While we hope to maintain a working relationship with the city, our presence is not financially, nor by necessity, contingent on same."
