🚨 CRITICAL URGENT APPEAL: Youth Peace and Justice Foundation Seeks Immediate Donations to Sustain Food Security for Texas Children Amid SNAP Crisis 🚨
AUSTIN, Texas—Oct. 29, 2025—
The Youth Peace and Justice Foundation (YPJF), also known as The Uvalde Foundation For Kids nonprofit charity, today issued a critical, urgent call for community support to sustain its massive emergency food card assistance program. Since the announcement of the program's expansion to address the looming November SNAP benefits crisis, YPJF has been immediately overwhelmed with requests for assistance, demonstrating the severe impact of the benefits halt on Texas families.
The program's dramatic expansion, made possible by a significant funding boost including the securing of an additional 2,000 H.E.B. Gift Cards, immediately protects hundreds of thousands of children at risk of going hungry. This action directly counters the food security vacuum created by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) confirmation that monthly SNAP food benefits will not be issued on Nov. 1, compounded by reports of new, stricter eligibility rules.
Program Impact and Scope
The temporary, emergency program is a vital bridge-funding measure designed to ensure children receive consistent meals throughout November. The distribution of H.E.B. gift cards is underway NOW across initial focus areas, including Temple, Belton, and Killeen, providing immediate, tangible relief.
The expanded assistance is currently available to qualified families with school-age children across eleven Texas counties, with plans underway to incorporate additional counties shortly:
Bell County, McClellan County, Bexar County, Williamson County, Milan County, Coryell County, Hays County, Travis County, San Saba County, Harris County, and Dallas County.
The Foundation’s dignity-first approach provides direct aid via gift cards, offering parents the flexibility to purchase essential groceries.
Crucially, in counties where H.E.B. operations are not available, such as El Paso, the Foundation will substitute with Walmart gift cards to ensure equitable access to essential food provisions.
Founder Daniel Chapin emphasized the program’s broader impact: "This grassroots effort is instilling a sense of hope and stability. Our greatest goal is to protect the emotional well-being of the children by making sure they don't have to worry about where their next meal will come from while their parents navigate this crisis. The cards provide not just food, but dignity."
Urgent Appeal: Donate to Keep the Program Alive
YPJF Outreach Coordinator, Jennifer West, warned, "While the initial 2,000 cards allow for an immediate and broad response, we are witnessing the sheer scale of the need firsthand. We anticipate the rapid depletion of our current supply and will require immediate, sustained public support to continue this vital function and expand to the next wave of counties. Every donation directly translates into a gift card that keeps a child fed this month."
The scope of the SNAP benefits halt necessitates continuous community partnership. We implore the public and institutional partners to contribute to this essential bridge funding initiative.
